10.11 Miles and 22,433 Steps Later

Heh that featured image is me trying to copy the face behind me at Har Paw Villa….

So today was my solo adventure! I visited many places today, but I probably won’t be able to talk about all of them in detail since that would take forever. To make things short and to the point, I’ll list out where I went, include a blurb about it and a picture of two, then move on. Later on I can make separate posts about them.

Stop 1: Pasir Panjang

This morning, I left my room at about 7:30 am and went to the Pasir Panjang hawker centre for a good old hawker breakfast. I had a curry puff and teh tarik from one of the few open stalls, and wow the teh tarik was amazing! Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of it..I’ll get one next time!

Stop 2: Har Paw Villa

This place was only 1 stop away from NUS, and it was creepy af. The main attraction is the Ten Courts of Hell, but all of the other statues were equally as weird. I might take Vineet here when he comes to visit in July. These are only a few of the pictures I took.

Stop 3: Tiong Bahru

This was a mostly residential neighborhood, but it had a really cool bookstore, BooksAcutally, which publishes some of its own books through its printing company Math Paper Press! This is one of the cutest bookstores I’ve ever been to, and I maaay have splurged a bit and bought 4 books. Maybe.

After BooksActually, I wandered a bit around Tiong Bahru and ended up in one of its many cafés. This blog is called Café and Kopi, so what kind of person would I be if I didn’t go into one of the cafés that Tiong Bahru is famous for?

Got a cheesecake and a latte. Yum!

Stop 4: Asian Civilisations Museum

This is one of the most famous museums in Singapore, specializing in pan-Asian cultures and civilizations. Today, I got to visit the main exhibits for FREEEE, since the museum offers free admission on the first Saturday of every month from 1 to 5pm. If you’re in Singapore, and it happens to be the first Saturday of the month and some time between 1 and 5 pm, definitely come take a look at this museum! You won’t regret it.

If you’re not here at the right time, no worries! General admission is $8 for non-Singaporean adults….but $4 on Fridays 7-9pm. Students get an even bigger discount, $4 for general admission and $2 on Fridays 7-9pm.

Stop 5: Merlion Park

Got my second Merlion picture! I also re-took a picture with the first Merlion I got. Check out my page on Merlions in Singapore for more about this.

Stop 6: Esplanade

I’ve seen the Esplanade so many times, but I’ve actually never been inside. Since I was already at Merlion Park, I thought, ‘Might as well see the Esplanade.’

Stop 7: CityLink Mall

CityLink Mall is a place I accidentally stumbled upon last Saturday. It’s Singapore’s first underground mall, and connects the Esplanade and City Hall MRT stations with Suntec City Mall, Marina Square, and hotels like Marina Centre and Millenea Singapore.

City Hall MRT is located on the green and red MRT lines. I was going to take the green line back to Clementi (and then take a bus to NUS), so I ended up walking around CityLink Mall before getting on the MRT.

Bibimbap at CityLink Mall for dinner!

Wow, that was a busy Saturday! Tomorrow I’m going to Pulau Ubin, so stay tuned for an update!
